Autumn is my favorite season, and October is my favorite month. It seems to have been a favorite of Jack Kerouac's as well, as his writing is sprinkled with references to the "kind old Love-light" he called October. He penned the poem from which this post takes its title in Atop an Underwood, a book I'd recommend to anyone interested in his writing, and in writing in general. It's educational, motivational, and gets into the details of the work of writing, without attempting to be at all instructional.
