Down To Business

When dressing in business casual, I often find myself gravitating towards the clean, fresh look of stark black and white. With the right accessories, it never feels boring, and instead has just the right air of sophistication. And generally speaking, pearls always do the trick. The sunny California sky helps, too.

Madeline

 For some reason this coat always reminds me of Ludwig Bemelmans' Madeline, and her adorable little blue dress. The red bag only adds to that allusion, at least in my head. Do you ever find yourself dressing like a character you knew growing up? Or someone now? Inspiration truly comes from everywhere.

I made it safely to California yesterday, between the scattered snowstorms and high winds in Colorado. Expect photos from L.A. later this week!

Truth

Everything has been all about spring lately, but Denver just received a fresh coat of snow. Weather patterns as they are here, it should be gone in a day or two, but I can't wait for some warmer weather. Luckily, I'm off on a quick trip to Los Angeles today! Eat, Sleep, Drink, and Be In Love

I can think of no better figure to celebrate Black History Month with than Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Denver commemorates some pretty great people in its parks. If you haven't yet, check out Langston Hughes' "Theme for English B," read Ralph Ellison's Invisible Man, and watch Spike Lee's Do the Right Thing. I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed.

Neon Indian

We took these photos after a quick stop at the Silverthorne Outlets on the way down the mountain last weekend. It looks like it's going to be another snowy one, which is great because I have a couple friends in from out of town, and Colorado needs to put on her best face for them. Bring on the snow! It's already blanketing Denver as I write this.

The Flying Cup Club

Both this hat, and the band Beirut, particularly in February, remind me of the great white north that is Minnesota. The next time there's a chill in the air, and you're in the mood for something mellow, check them out. Their horn section is killer.

Be Mine

 I ended up wearing this outfit to celebrate Valentine's Day last week at Osaki, an amazing sushi restaurant in Vail Village with my special someone, and it couldn't have been more perfect. With all of the snow in Denver and Vail I ended up wearing my Rag & Bone Harrow booties and adding my Helmut Lang coat to stay warm, but I still felt festive in this top and skirt. So often the subtlest details mean the difference between ok and spectacular. Here, there was just enough pink to make this work, especially with the feathered skirt.

Shake It Out

Pairing a chambray top with leggings has definitely been one of my favorite outfits of late. This particular chambray top was my first purchase from StyleMint, and only affirmed my opinion that everything the Olsen Twins touch turns to gold. Have you checked out StyleMint yet? What do you think?

I Am the Walrus

I hope you had a fabulous Valentine's Day! It started snowing early in the day in Denver, which definitely changed my outfit choice for the evening, so expect those photos soon. I'll be taking President's Day off, but I hope you have a wonderful long weekend!
