Happy Halloween! Love, Cinderella

Playing a princess made for a fabulous Halloween weekend with the best of friends. I love putting my costume together rather than buying it, as it makes getting ready for Halloween a scavenger hunt of the best kind.

I thrifted the dress from Ragstock in Uptown Minneapolis, which always has the best collection of holiday-relevant clothing. The gloves are from Target, and the crown and wig came from various costume/Halloween shops in Denver. The bustle I made out of fabric and duct tape. Without a sewing machine handy, duct tape seemed the most useful alternative to hand sewing everything for one night of wear. The necklace is from J. Crew, and the "glass slippers" are BCBGMAXAZRIA flats from forever ago.

I hope you have or had a fabulous Halloween! What did you dress up as? I'd love to see your costumes! Post them on my facebook page!

Think Pink

As Halloween draws near, and Breast Cancer Awareness Month draws to a close, I wanted to dedicate a post to this illness. With a family history of breast cancer, this cause is close to my heart. To those of you affected by the illness in any way, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

And to those of you on the east coast of the United States, you too are in my thoughts and prayers in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. Stay safe, east coasters.

All my love,
Josephine

Let the Wild Rumpus Start!

Maurice Sendak's "Where the Wild Things Are" was one of my favorite stories as a child, and the 2009 film version directed by Spike Jonze didn't disappoint. The soundtrack, by Karen O and The Kids, also found its way onto my ipod shortly after the film's release. Clearly, I couldn't pass up this t-shirt. Save the Wild Things, indeed.

Wisconsin, Revisited

These photos are from a chilly evening in Wisconsin earlier this autumn, but with the snow on the ground in Denver right now I thought they were perfect. This is exactly the type of outfit I love on a chilly, snowy day. Though I'd likely rethink the footwear.

My friends and I are still trying to finalize our Halloween plans, and my costume isn't quite finished, but I've got high hopes it will all work out. These things tend to, really. I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

Autumn Leaves

Denver has snow. Real snow. Accumulating in piles, glistening on the ground, and floating through the air as it falls. As an avid skier and snowboarder, this is thrilling to me. Bring on the season! Arapahoe Basin is already open, and Vail, my favorite, opens November 16th, with a brand new, shiny gondola, complete with heated seats, making that trip up the mountain from Vail Village so much easier. I can't wait to hit the slopes!

These shots are from earlier this week when temps were still in the 70s, because that's how crazy Denver's weather is.

You Just Do.

I've been really into The XX lately. And while I really like their new album, there's just something about revisiting their self-titled 2009 release that makes perfect sense right now. "VCR" has generally been on repeat the last few days, both on my ipod and in my head. Check it out.

Ziggy Stardust

This sweatshirt isn't an original, but Urban Outfitters did a good job of making it look like one.

Tree of Life

Buffalo plaid has always been one of my favorites, and this shirt was too perfect to pass up. Paired with torn up jeans and my favorite moccasins, it contributed to the ideal weekend getup. My weekend was pretty low key, so comfort was the biggest factor in getting dressed, and this outfit definitely fit the bill. How was your weekend?

A Melancholy Tennysonian

Autumn, to me, is all about warm drinks, afternoons lost in literature, and catching those last rays of sunshine in a cool autumn breeze.

Have a great weekend!

Never Stops

I've been listening to a lot of Deerhunter lately, which is just chill enough for an autumn afternoon, and generally seems to fit the season. Also, this outfit. Check them out.

Norma Jean

Please excuse the over-abundance of photos these last few posts. I had too much fun with Elizabeth Grube of LYZ Design as photographer and wanted to show off more of her work!

Wandering around in Uptown Minneapolis in Elizabeth & James sunnies, Vince leather jacket (similar), Monrow tee, J. Crew navy pixie pant and necklace, Minnetonka moccasins, and Balenciaga bag.

Thank you, Elizabeth Grube, for these fabulous photos! It definitely helps to have an artist's touch.
