Tucked In

When I was younger, I was quite adamantly opposed to tucking anything in. As I've grown older though, I've come to understand how much it can clean up an outfit, and create a waist where there wasn't one before. Raiding my mom's belt collection may have helped to spur this change in thought as well. It was so much more convenient than actually shopping for belts!

I Am Charlotte Simmons

I recently finished reading Tom Wolfe's I Am Charlotte Simmons, which was nothing less than fantastic. I've read a few of his books, and they never fail to disappoint. Set at the fictional Dupont University, it follows Charlotte Simmons, a naive girl from small-town North Carolina, through her first year of college, and all the chaos that encompasses that defining year. Check it out if you're looking for an enthralling summer read!

On a Sidewalk in LA

My trip was far too short, as evidenced by the fact that the only time I saw the ocean was from the car on the way to the airport, but it was still a great time. There's just something about the sunshine that makes everything better. Even the sidewalks are prettier in Los Angeles.

On another note, how is it March already? What are your weekend plans? I'd love to hear them! I'm getting back on a plane Saturday morning, but this time for NorCal. I can't wait!

Beat

Turtlenecks have such a bad name. It's unfortunate, really, as they make so much sense in those colder climates. Either way, they were beatnik approved, and The Glamourai's recent beat-inspired installment  had me dressing like one. Minus the accessories, of course.

Let the Wild Rumpus Start!

Maurice Sendak's "Where the Wild Things Are" was one of my favorite stories as a child, and the 2009 film version directed by Spike Jonze didn't disappoint. The soundtrack, by Karen O and The Kids, also found its way onto my ipod shortly after the film's release. Clearly, I couldn't pass up this t-shirt. Save the Wild Things, indeed.

Emeraldine

When it comes to weather, Denver can't make up her mind. Thus, dressing for summer in a dress whose fabric screams for fall. Perfect.

Fish Tailed

This past weekend I had the honor of modeling in a bridal show put on by Visuelle Productions, of Appleton, Wisconsin. The shows are always very fun, and very well done, and this one was no exception. If you're a bride in the Appleton area, I definitely recommend attending the next one! As part of the show, I also got my hair and make-up done. I absolutely loved my updo by Abracadabra Hair Salon, also of Appleton, Wisconsin. The fishtail was so on trend! Thank you, Sue Diehl of Visuelle, and Brenda Lee of Abracadabra!

Buy Art: LYZ Design

My dear friend and bff since middle school has many talents, one of which is painting. The fabulous piece you see in these pictures arrived at my apartment in the midst of a downpour of the most depressing sort, but the palm trees and sunshine immediately overpowered the crying window it was leaning against. That's Lizzie. She makes you smile, no matter what. And I love her for it. Thank you, Ms. Elizabeth Grube, for this bit of LA now proudly living in my place!

Check out LYZ Design here. It makes me wish I had more wall space!

Also, pink pants are necessary for life.
