Vine Street

I arrived in Washington, D.C. yesterday for a family wedding celebration, and can't be more excited to spend the weekend here. It's been a few years since my last visit, and the city is just as fun as I remember it. Have a fabulous weekend!!

Giant

 I read Edna Ferber's Giant about a year ago, exploring the sprawling, oil rich lands of Texas with eyes as naive as those of the protagonist, Leslie. Other than the airport in Houston, I haven't actually been to the state. However, based on the oppressive heat permeating throughout the book, this outfit seems like the perfect thing to wear there in the summer. Summer Uniform

I've suddenly realized that the section of my wardrobe containing shorts is sorely lacking at the moment. However, J. Crew's recent sale has cleared them out of every pair I want in my size, and my other options are significantly more expensive, which is less than ideal. This pair, however, was a great buy, and will be getting far more than its fair share of ware. Printed shorts plus a plain tee equals my summer uniform. At least this summer.

Grapefruit

This skirt has definitely become my favorite lately. It's incredibly soft and comfortable, and seems to go with almost everything. Also, these shoes. Pink is always a good idea. This is my only set of outfit photos from my trip this past weekend, basically because I spent most of the weekend in my new swimsuit from J. Crew. Which is the best way to spend a weekend, really. Love Is Blindness

 The Great Gatsby, along with the entirety of this past weekend, were more than I could have hoped for. While there were no parties on sprawling lawns, there were oysters and crab legs, and afternoons by the pool, and just enough of a hint of summer to make it all seem magical. And now I can't wait for a repeat, with that special someone that made it all happen. How was your weekend? I'd love to hear about it in the comments!
