While not the highest peak in Colorado, Pike's Peak is one of the only accessible by vehicle. Thus, the clothing. Hiking a 14er generally requires a bit more gear.
Even with all the clouds and threatening rain storm, the view from 14,110 feet up is still pretty spectacular. These purple mountains majesty apparently gave rise to the line in "America the Beautiful," and are certainly worthy of such a description. Next time you're in Colorado, check it out.
